Why the Whig is dying : Between the lens

How about putting a picture of some veterans in the picture taken at the Veterans Day Parade instead of a PR prop of the local sheriff's department with no accompanying story? Instead, readers are directed to go to one of the Whig blogs no one reads to get the token story about yesterday's event. See below for some examples of pics of a great event that would have been more appropriate. More images and a better story here.

A warrior wades in

From BLACKFIVE

Officer Kimberly Munley is a warrior. When the murderous bastard at Ft. Hood started killing she stopped him and God bless her for that.

I have avoided writing anything about this as my thoughts ought not to be paraded in public. This is a time to honor the dead, care for their families and give our thoughts and prayers to the wounded.

I will only say I'm glad the son of a bitch lived and we get to kill him properly. Do we still have firing squads?

Home Town Award Winner John Spring

From QHW: Ebbing gets it right, for the most part. Spring is able to suppress his narcissistic instinct this time.

@ the 2:50 mark: "As you said, I've been doing this for a long time. Fifteen years old standing in the Mississippi River in Rock Island, IL throwing sandbags trying to save the water plant back in 1965. "

Obama's Nobel is replaced as this year's most undeserved recognition

So, John Spring is the best guy the governor could come up with to head up his economic recovery team? Based on what evidence that he has any experience in anything related to any economy? He was a fundraiser for 29 years. Translation: He played a lot of golf. He has been the mayor of a town of less than 40,000 people for a little more than four years. Translation: He plays a lot of golf. Quinn is a fruitloop. (read more here)

This Week's Alexa Traffic Rankings: HQBD vs Quincy Pundit

Source: Alexa the Web Information Company

CLARIFICATION II: The lower number in Alexa rankings is better. In other words, Quincy Pundit is killing GREDF. This is easily explained by their antiquated website and them not being nearly as important as Mentesti thinks they are. Which, if I was a potential company looking to expand or relocate, would take note of.

Quincy Cookies

This photo via Instapundit. Michelle Moore, a St Louis blogger and tea partier, featured these very same cookies in her post about the highly successful Quincy Tea Party 912 event that the dying QHW chose to ignore. You can read Glenn Reynolds' and Michelle's take on the event here as well.

Today's shortened work week Friday video: Be careful not to get anything in your eye

I just remembered where I've seen this guy before

Rep Alan Grayson (D-umbass)

Doctor Cornelius Evazan

The guy from the cantina in Star Wars, most famous for having this conversation:

"He doesn't like you."
"I'm sorry."
"I don't like you either.
You just watch yourself. We're wanted men.
I have a death sentence in twelve systems."
"I'll be careful then."
"You'll be dead!"
