UPDATE: Big Mac is out
Like the fast food styrofoam containers of days gone by, Mar Tee Mac's Facebook page is gone . . . again. He's the modern day, social media version of 1992's Ross Perot. I will not be his Larry King. This will be the last update on this deal.

Spring Summit: How to use 5.5m taxpayer dollars to pay off campaign contributors and friends
photo courtesy of H-W's coverage of a waste of time
This one was a straggler, but thought it should go up. I know we just witnessed the impressive celebrity death triangle of Roger Ebert, Magaret Thatcher and Annette Funicello; but we have an election tomorrow.
Mar Tee Mac - We hardly knew thee
Looks like one of the adults in the Spring camp got a hold of Sullivan's hired young gun, Martin "Mar Tee Mac" McAlpin, from Chicago and told him to lose his Facebook page until at least after Tuesday's election. Click here.

Spring campaign gets a payday loan
It's clear from campaign disclosures that the one man would most like to get John Spring elected is John Sullivan. He gave most the money he got from the Senate Dems back after he lost Quincy, but won reelection back in November '12. Besides soliciting funds from Chicago House and Senate members for our mayor, Sullivan is almost singlehandedly funding Spring's campaign. So where does he get that kind of cash in an off year? That's right, payday loan company.
A few weeks back on Mary Griffith's, who has a Spring sign in her yard, WTAD radio show Spring said he opposed the predatory nature of the business, but could do nothing as mayor from keeping them from operating in the city. He'll take their money though.
Service Management Resources, LLC and their political dealings are explained here. I think this is where the "strange bedfellows" saying applies. So does the phrase "by hook or by crook". A loss on Tuesday would be hugely embarrassing for more than just Spring.

Finally, the Dick comes in big for Spring
PPAC is Dick Durbin's PAC. Wonder why Spring only takes Durbin's money, but never brings him in to stump?
Note to Sullivan and Spring: Get better paid operatives
Given the lack of confidence John Spring has in the abilities of anyone younger than he is, he surprises with his choice for a Sullivan funded campaign manager. Martin McAlpin, who resides in Chicago, graduated from Valparaiso last year. Kid is probably around 23 years old. Not sure if it's his age or his ideology, but the Mac is clearly not in tune with how we operate down here. Another solid choice by Spring.
ABOVE: Mar Tee seems to be telling his adoring FB fans that we poop on political signs here in the backwoods.
Above: The Macster believes he had something to do with Spring getting the Whig endorsement that was written before he had leg hair.
Above: Mar Tee Foshizzle is not all that fond of God , the Pope or the Catholic Church.
From Mayor John Spring FB page: Who thought this was a good idea?
If
the Mayor had the power for it to be sunny and 60, believe me it would
be! However, you have to admit, it's a great opportunity for our kids to
enjoy a snow-covered Quincy just one more time this season!
I am a full time Mayor. On different days that means different things. Today being a full time Mayor means working with road crews to clear and clean the streets of the City I love.
Have a safe and happy Sunday everyone!

Spring, his Staff and Mar Tee Mac get stupider
So after trying to claim credit for 8 years of job growth when the city has actually lost 900 jobs, the mayor thinks the proper strategy is to call Knapheide a government welfare queen? Who is the idiot running the campaign?
BTW, are we paying the mayor's $90k/yr son-in-law to write and send out Spring's press releases? He hasn't slept in his chair at a city council meeting for over a month.
